Description

The LEMI-120 is a broadband induction coil magnetic field sensor designed to measure naturally occurring time-varying magnetic fields for passive electromagnetic geophysical investigations. The sensor is primarily used in magnetotelluric (MT) surveys, providing high-sensitivity measurements across a broad frequency range from 0.0001 Hz to 1,000 Hz. The LEMI-120 combines low-noise performance, a stable transfer function, and low power consumption to support high-quality magnetic field measurements in a wide range of environmental conditions. It is typically deployed as one of three orthogonal magnetic field sensors within MT acquisition systems, where it records the Earth’s natural magnetic field variations for studies of crustal and lithospheric structure, mineral and geothermal exploration, groundwater investigations, and tectonic research. This instrument forms part of the AuScope - ANSIR: Research Facilities For Earth Sounding and has been deployed in multiple research surveys across Australia.
