Description

A deployment of the AuScope - ANSIR long-period magnetotelluric instrument pool within Geoscience Australia's AusLAMP acquisition for Phase 1 of the Exploring for the Future programme. Ten LEMI-424 long-period magnetotelluric acquisition systems, owned and maintained by Adelaide University as part of the ANSIR Earth Sounding capability, were made available to Geoscience Australia for the 2017 field season and operated alongside Geoscience Australia's own LEMI-424 fleet.

The array recorded at 40 sites on the AusLAMP half geodetic-degree grid, 31 in the Northern Territory and 9 in western Queensland, between 24 May and 16 December 2017, across five field deployments. Site occupations averaged about one month, totalling 1,440 instrument-days of continuous three-component magnetic and two-component electric field recording at 1 Hz. These 40 sites form part of a 405-site survey; the remainder were acquired with Geoscience Australia instruments and are not covered by this record.

Funding References
Credit This instrument deployment is part of the AuScope - ANSIR (National Research Facility for Earth Sounding), supported by the Australian Government through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). The instruments are owned and operated by The Adelaide University as part of the ANSIR Earth Sounding capability, and were made available to Geoscience Australia for the AusLAMP Exploring for the Future Phase 1 field campaign. Field operations, data processing and data publication were undertaken by Geoscience Australia; the field campaign was funded by Geoscience Australia under the Exploring for the Future programme.
