| Description | The LEMI-423 is a portable broadband magnetotelluric (MT) data acquisition system designed to measure naturally occurring electromagnetic field variations for passive electromagnetic sounding. The instrument simultaneously records three orthogonal magnetic field components using induction coil sensors and two orthogonal electric field components, enabling broadband magnetotelluric observations across a wide frequency range. The LEMI-423 incorporates low-noise analogue signal conditioning, high-resolution analogue-to-digital conversion, and GPS time synchronisation to support accurate, time-aligned acquisition of electromagnetic field data. It is commonly deployed in crustal and lithospheric imaging, mineral and geothermal exploration, groundwater investigations, and tectonic studies. This instrument instance forms part of the AuScope - ANSIR: Research Facilities For Earth Sounding and has been deployed in multiple research surveys across Australia. |
